Basepoint Winchester

Background

It was identified as part of Winchester City Councils Core Strategy that there was a lack of high quality business space for small businesses/SMEs and entrepreneurs in the Winchester area.

A site owned by Wichester City Council on Winnal Valley Road, which had been vacated for some years, had been identified as a prominent site for a business centre.

Solution

In March 2010 Basepoint,  in partnership with Winchester City Council, who leased the land to Basepoint,  converted and extended the office building formerly owned by Thames Water on Winnal Valley Road into a 25,000sqft bespoke business centre offering 66 workspaces.

The £2M development project was developed to provide space for start-ups as well as small and medium sized enterprises after many years of a lack of high quality business space for entrepreneurs in the Winchester area.

Results

By the end of year one Basepoint Winchester was appreciating high levels of occupancy and continued to thrive.  Since opening in 2010 the centre has created 215 jobs through housing 83 local startup/SMEs.
