The ACT Foundation appoints Group Business Development and Investment Director to bolster investment portfolio

The ACT Foundation (ACT), a grant making charity based in Windsor, has appointed Nick Hicks as Group Business Development and Investment Director in a strategic move to bolster its investment portfolio and ensure continued success.

Nick, 43, joins ACT from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBoS) where he was Director of Real Estate Finance for the southern region.  In his new role, Nick will also join the Group Investment Committee and the Group Treasury Committee and be appointed a Director of Basepoint – the serviced business centre operator owned by ACT.

Nick will have executive responsibility for promoting and growing the Basepoint portfolio of managed business centres, and for marketing Basepoint as a brand at a national level.  He will contribute to strategic decisions affecting The ACT Foundation’s commercial property investment portfolio, and owned Basepoint portfolio.

Denis Taylor, Group Chief Executive of The ACT Foundation, comments: “A key consideration of ours over the last 12 months has been succession planning at Board and Senior Management level to ensure continued success of The ACT Foundation and the performance of its investments over the next decade and beyond. The appointment of Nick Hicks to support me is with the view that in time he will take on my Executive responsibility for the Group’s investment strategy and the teams responsible for managing our commercial property investment portfolio and Basepoint.

“I shall be looking to Nick to develop new business and investment opportunities across the Group, but for the immediate future his focus will be on Basepoint and growing its managed centre business.  Nick’s experience in real estate finance and knowledge of funding structures will stand him in good stead for managing and strengthening our investment portfolio.”

Nick adds: “I am delighted to join The ACT Foundation and to support the Executive and Management Committee’s aim to continue to develop the Basepoint business in support of the group’s charitable activities.  The continued success of the group is essential to so many valuable and worthwhile causes.  I am looking forward to working with the teams both in Windsor and across the wider Basepoint business to ensure that the activities of the group can be maintained and expanded where it is viable to do so."

Basepoint currently own and/or operate 28 business centres across the south of England and the Midlands, and specialise in providing high quality, managed office space for small to medium sized businesses. Basepoint is the main trading arm of The ACT Foundation. All of the profits that are generated by Basepoint Centres are ploughed back into charitable causes which assist societies most vulnerable.
