Proposed Super Council in East Kent
Plans to create a ‘Super’ Council in East Kent are in the proposal stage, with the five councils of Shepway, Canterbury, Ashford, Dover and Thanet consulting on how it will work. The belief is that its creation will improve the delivery of services to residents
Part of the plan is to have one East Kent Local Plan as a single document, instead of the individual plans that are currently in place. Each council plans finish at different times, so will need to be all bought in line with each other.
A local plan is an important document which details the future development of a local authority area, which will guide decisions on future planning application.
