Basepoint Southampton match fund £10k to Piam Brown Ward

Southampton

All the team at Basepoint Southampton are thrilled to have match funded the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton General Hospital with £10k this year.

The Piam Brown Ward is the Regional Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Unit for Wessex, based on the top floor of Southampton General Hospital. Children from only one day old up to 16 years old spend time in the 10 bed inpatient ward and in the outpatient area where the unit sees approximately 100 new families per year. The team is led by four consultants and supported by differing grades of nurses and trainee doctors who treat all types of cancer with Leukaemia being the most common, accounting for approximately one third of new patients each year.

Rachel Funnell from The Piam Brown Ward said she was thrilled to receive this fantastic donation that will go towards the huge refurbishment that the Piam Brown Ward is currently undergoing.

The events that have taken place this year included a onesie walk, big haircuts, a netball tournament, cake sales and the list goes on with weird and wonderful ways to raise money for this fantastic charity.

All the team at Basepoint Southampton have really enjoyed working with the Piam Brown Ward and are so pleased at the amazing total that was raised in the year.
