Severn Bridge Half Marathon 2017 Hailed a Success

Chepstow

Thousands of runners swept across the Severn Bridge on Sunday 26th August as a popular half marathon event returned for its fourth year.

Running teams and unaffiliated runners from across the UK flocked to the Severn Bridge Half Marathon, organised once again by Rogue Runs and supported by Basepoint Chesptow with 2,000 people taking part in two events including a new 10k option.

As competitors reached the final stretch, they were treated to tunes from Chepstow Town Band - with renditions ranging from the ‘Bare Necessities’ to ‘Is This the Way to Amarillo’.

The race described by many as a “run by runners, for runners” and was considered the best ever in terms of weather.  Several Gwent teams could be spotted in the closed-road race, from Caldicot Running Club, Chepstow Harriers and Pont-y-pwl and District Runners to Lliswerry Runners and Islwyn Running Club.
