Iconic Big Issue seller Kev cuts ribbon for Molly's Den relaunch

Winchester

Molly's Den, the treasure trove situated in Winnall Trading Estate, has reopened with the help of much loved Big Issue seller Kev.

KEVIN Collick, Winchester’s Big Issue seller, cut the ribbon to re-launch Molly’s Den Antiques Emporium at Easton Lane, now under the ownership of M D Emporium Ltd.

Stephen Berry, emporium manager, said: “We are delighted that Kevin agreed to come and cut the ribbon for us during our Easter promotion, where there were free Easter eggs for the children and the Royal T’s band performed. It was a very successful day.”

Mr East-Rigby, M D Emporium’s managing director, said: “Since buying the Molly’s Den Emporium group at the end of last year we have carried out several improvements including the re-opening of the café. Our new manager, Stephen Berry, has done a great job filling the Emporium with new and interesting independent traders. The venue has become so popular that we now have a waiting list for traders.”

The emporium is home to a 100 traders selling their original wares, vintage, antique, retro, contemporary and handmade. The range is massive and there is something to suit every budget and style.

Molly’s Den, under previous ownership, had been embroiled in a long planning battle with the city council over its use of another building in Winnall.

The city council in a statement: “The council understands that Molly’s Den has moved into a different building on Easton Lane.

“The business has relocated into an A1 unit which was formerly a fabric warehouse. An A1 unit can operate as a retail outlet. Given this context the business would not need to apply for planning permission.”
