Dog of the Month Competition

Havant

With April being Nation Pet Month, Havant celebrated this by holding a ‘dog of the month’ competition. All licensees were invited to be involved, with the top 3 (pets and not owners) winning rosettes, however, there was also a little something for the winning owners too. This competition was based on a picture of their loveable, furry friend along with some information and an amusing or heart melting story.

It was a difficult decision to make but please see the winners below with their stories about their lovable furry friends:

1st place is Charlie and Matthew – He is a six-year-old jack Russell whose favourite toy is a pair of slippers, he loves to hang out on the sofa and is named after Charles Bronson.

Matthew came back from holiday, and Charlie managed to unzip Matthews bag, get his passport out and eat it! – he obviously didn’t want him to go away again.

2nd place is Winnie and David – She is a 2-year-old Spaniel, Collie and Bassey Hound. Her favourite toy is whatever comes through the post. She loves hanging out in bed and along the waterfront (about 1 minute away from Basepoint). She is named after Winnie Mandela.

Rescued from Romania as a puppy through a UK charity - https://paws2rescue.com/

Winnie and her 3 siblings were bought at a Romanian meat market by the charity where dogs are sold for any use (not normally to loving & caring families).

Although a very shy and insecure pup, who didn’t have the best start in life, with lots of love and affection she has grown up to be a confident and fun office favourite (plus a handy hoover for all those crumbs).

3rd place is Ellie-dog AKA Woobs and Cliff – She is a 12-and-a-half-year-old Springer Spaniel. Her favourite toy is Cliff’s shoes, she enjoys hanging out at Cliff’s local pub.

Woobs used to go up to strangers in the pub at the bar and dance with them.

She also found 38 old tennis and cricket balls in just over an hour in my old garden hedges.

Woobs has no issues eating (and processing) Christmas tree baubles and tinsel.

She lets my kids ride around on her like a small horse…..
