Charity is ‘over the moon’ after Basepoint donates £5,700 at abseil event
Basepoint Havant is delighted to announce that it will be sponsoring national children’s charity, Over the Wall (www.otw.org.uk), for the next financial year. Fundraising is already underway for the charity after they held an ‘extreme’ moonlit abseil at the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on Saturday 20th April.
The all day charity event commenced at 9am with a 100m abseil down the tower, and the first ‘extreme’ abseil from under the tower’s glass floor was at 7pm. There was a ball for the participants and attendees in the evening, with dinner, music, and dancing in the Waterfront cafe.
Over the Wall provide life-changing experiences to children and young people aged 8-17 who are affected by serious illnesses. By hosting free activity camps that are specifically designed to foster coping, resilience, self-esteem, and confidence in young children, Over the Wall is able to provide experiences that are memorable and empowering, all within a safe environment.
Sherry Thomson, Assistant Centre Manager at Basepoint Havant, comments: “We are thrilled to be supporting Over the Wall for the next financial year. The work they do with children who suffer from serious illnesses is nothing short of awe-inspiring, and we were delighted to present them with their first cheque after match-funding their abseil event.”
Donna Beetham, Regional Development Manager at Over the Wall, adds: “We’re over the moon that Basepoint are supporting us for the next financial year. Our abseil event was a great success – everyone’s highlight was watching our CEO, Kevin Mathieson, abseil down the tower in his formal black tie wear! We hope to raise much-needed awareness of our charity work within Hampshire, and after Basepoint’s match-funding, we’re already on our way to our £30,000 target!”
