Licensee Hosts Charity Fundraiser

Dartford

Oasis Coffee and Sandwich Bar, located in Unit 74, held a fundraising event on Friday 6th July for Ellenor Hospice.

Owners of Oasis Coffee and Sandwich Bar worked hard last week to organise an event raising funds for Ellenor Hospice. Banners and balloons were placed in Reception in advance so other licensees were aware of the date and could donate any loose change in exchange for homemade cakes, traybakes and brownies.

When asked about the meaning behind the event Dawn said "both myself and Jo sadly have found out first hand what fantastic work that hospices do and the local Ellenor is very special to us and a really worthy charity to help. We decided from day one we would try and support them and have always put all tips into the Ellenor pot. Friday was hopefully the first of many fundraising days we will do and was really good, lots of lovely people popped in to show us support. Along with 'guess how many sweets in the jar' and 'guess the weight of the cake!' we served complimentary bucks fizz to anyone who came in and put their hand in their pocket! We have raised just over £290 and are very grateful to everyone who helped. We are going along, armed with some cakes and biscuits in a week or so to hand over the money and spend some time chatting to the people there".

After the interactive event finished Dawn and Jo went door-to-door around the building selling ice creams, which licensees truly appreciated on such a hot day. All proceeds from this also went in to the collection bucket to help them reach their fantastic total. Ellenor is a charity reliant on the generosity of the local community to be able to continue to help thousands of families facing terminal illness in Kent each year and we're sure that the money raised will be put to great use.

Congratulations for running such a great event, ladies! Staff at Basepoint Dartford look forward to supporting you again at next one.
