Basepoint Camberley presents Christopher’s Smile with a cheque for almost £10,000
Basepoint Camberley recently presented a cheque to the Christopher’s Smile charity for £9,706.16, through a series of fundraising events including; a May Ball, Fashion Lunch, Sailing Challenge, Soiree Francaise and a Christmas event.
Christopher’s Smile is a charity that funds the development of new biological drugs to treat medulloblastoma and other childhood cancers, without causing distressing side effects. These drugs will provide an effective cure for all, and save the lives of the children who currently do not survive this awful disease. By directly funding academic researchers, Christopher’s Smile will advance the testing and development of these new drugs enabling children in the future to have access to more effective and safer treatments.
Basepoint Business Centres, who specialise in the development and operation of flexible business, innovation and enterprise centres, is owned by The ACT Foundation, a leading UK grant-making charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life of those in need. As such, each centre is dedicated to fundraising for a selected charity and The ACT Foundation match funds any money raised by the chosen charity, up to the value of £10,000 per centre.
Karen Capel, Founder of Christopher’s Smile, comments: “I never expected to receive such a large amount from Basepoint, and I am truly grateful for their support. Every penny raised for the charity will go towards research into new treatments for children’s cancers.”
Lisa Rollings, Centre Manager at Basepoint Camberley, adds: “We are extremely proud of our relationship with Christopher’s Smile and the amazing work that they do. It is great to know that the money we raise is going towards helping children with this awful disease enjoy a good quality of life."
