Businesses go green at Basepoint’s Networking Hub
Almost 30 local businesses were in attendance at the The Newhaven Enterprise Centre’s latest Networking Hub on Thursday 18th July, where the presentations included a talk on alternative and sustainable travel options, as well as a talk from one of Basepoint’s own licensees on how start-ups can improve their business.
Guest speaker was Harriet Knights, a project officer for Sustrans ‘Bike It!’ scheme, who will be working closely with The Newhaven Enterprise Centre over the coming months to organise events and promote green travel. At the event, Harriet kicked off the proceedings with an insightful presentation on the benefits of green travel, and explained how it helps to improve the health of employers and employees, as well as their overall work performance.
Also speaking at the event was Nick Briggs from Brainwaves, a licensee based at Basepoint Shoreham, who provided advice on how start-ups can break through to the next level of success. As part of his presentation, Nick set a task for the attendees to identify four key areas that could make their business more successful, and then asked the group to match it against competitors’ for a cross-comparison.
Roxanne Haid, centre manager at the Basepoint operated business centre, comments: “Our latest Networking Hub was a great success and we’re grateful to our two guest speakers for attending and providing advice to local businesses. It was also really exciting to kick off our new green travel initiative with Harriet, and the feedback we’ve since had from local businesses has been very positive so we’re excited to see where it takes us.”
