What's New

Evesham welcomes a new member of the team- and finds out what he thinks!

Evesham

Warren, the new assistant manager, has years of experience in customer service and is looking forward to working with the eclectic bunch at Basepoint Evesham. What are his views on the first few days?

What is it about a new job that makes you feel nervous/excited? Are these feelings one and the same? Going into something new requires something of you, requires you to be truly you- and at the same time, really not. The interview is one thing, actually doing the job is another. Doubt creeps in: am I able to do this? Will I fit into the team? Will I enjoy the work? But, as we all know, the thought of something is always worse than the reality- and on entering the door on Monday morning I need not have worried.
Ben and Debbie, the small but perfectly formed team I have joined, were waiting with tea and coffee when I arrived. We sat and chatted in a very nice business lounge, planning the day whilst they gave me the lay of the land, as it were. Great people in a great environment- what a way to start the day, and a new job!
However, the joy of this job is that the majority of my focus will be on the people who rent the office space, the licensees. So, I went and introduced myself to a few, and then a few more and then got to say hello whilst I sat at reception. What a friendly group, what a diverse group. There is no 'type' at Basepoint, it really is a mix of anyone and everyone. Whether a care company, a management executive or a plumbers, this is the place to be. I was genuinely surprised at the eclectic nature of the place. Although diverse in business focus, a continuing thread throughout was the genuinely warm welcome I was given by all. Everyone gave of their time, were willing to put aside their work for a few minutes so we could begin to build a relationship. This speaks highly of the people, it is not a surprise that they are successful if they treat their customers the way they treated me.
I know I am only on day 3 but I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. I work with a superb team, who deliver a fantastic service, to a group of brilliant people. I am an optimist by nature but even I have to say that use of so many 'positive words' in the proceeding sentence only serves to highlight how strongly I feel about it all. It may be a bit much (and it probably is) but I do not think I can use any alternatives. Turns out that I may very quickly be completely sold on the ethos, facilities and (most importantly) the people who make up the Basepoint Evesham Business Centre.
