At Basepoint we hold regular networking events and encourage all local small to medium sized or start up businesses to join, as our main focus is to give them free advice and real life examples shared by our professional guest speakers.

Networking is about building your contact base and acquiring new knowledge and skills, therefore it should be viewed as a long term strategy not a short term sales pitch. On that occasion. we have prepared a few tips and hints about best networking practice to implement at your next event.

  • Make a plan - prepare business examples and questions to ask the guest speaker, if there is one at the event;
  • Introduce yourself to others in a positive and persuasive way, saying who you are and how you and your business can help them;
  • Turn up early and take the time to get to know the organisers and the venue;
  • Don't be afraid to be the one to reach out other attendees;
  • Smile and look confident;
  • Take business cards and follow up after the event via social media or direct mail.
