Tewkesbury School Celebrates 'outstanding' by Ofsted

Tewkesbury

Basepoint Tewkesbury are delighted to hear of the success of the Alderman Knight School in Tewkesbury as they celebrate being described as 'oustanding' by Ofsted. Inspectors visited the special school in Ashchurch Road on January 29 and 30, when there were 161 pupils on its roll - including 25 in study programmes for children aged between 16 and 19. Those included the effectiveness of leadership, quality of teaching, pupils’ personal development, behaviour and welfare and the programmes in its sixth form.

The sixth form opened in 2017, having cost £1.9million to build. In a report published today by Ofsted, it said: “This is an outstanding school. “The headteacher has very high expectations of pupils and staff. She has ensured that the school has maintained its high standards of teaching since the previous inspection.

The inspectors were clearly impressed with what they saw, awarding the school an outstanding’ status overall and also saying it was outstanding in each of the key areas it examined.

Basepoint had close links with the school for many years when they were the chosen nominated local charity for match funding and we are really pleased to see it's ongoing success. Congratulations to all the staff and pupils.
