Basepoint Gets Behind The Techies 2019

Swindon

Swindon’s Basepoint Business Centre is one of the sponsors helping to recognise the innovation and entrepreneurship of Swindon and Wiltshire’s IT community through this year’s Techie Awards.

Basepoint Business Centres are not run like ordinary centres. As well as providing a range of flexible serviced and managed offices, virtual offices and serviced meeting rooms, the company also aims to build SME communities with complementary businesses rather than simply accommodating them together under one roof.

Basepoint developed the concept of Managed Business, Innovation and Enterprise Centres, opening the UK’s first business centre in 1994 in the market town of Romsey in Hampshire. Comprising 30 units totalling 16,000 sq ft, the Centre was developed in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council and it has since been extended. It is now home to 80 thriving businesses within 27,500 sq ft of space.

25 years on and Basepoint’s concept of flexible managed office and workshop space is still proving very popular, providing a base to over 2,000 businesses.

Lyn Chapman, Basepoint Centre Manager in Swindon said, “All our Centres provide a mix of high-quality managed office, studio and workshop space available in a range of sizes to cater for SMEs. From sole traders to companies of over 20 employees, every business with us benefits from Basepoint’s unique service.

“Innovation and enterprise are central to the core business of Basepoint. Innovation and Enterprise Centres are not, as many incorrectly brand them, places of business exclusively for science and technology companies. They are diverse and exciting work environments where many different companies and characters thrive on the community spirit engendered within them. We create environments for companies to improve or develop new products and services helping to give them a competitive advantage and a platform for growth.

“As a company, we have a responsibility to our staff, our licensees and the communities we live in and we take each one very seriously.  Which is why for us supporting The Techies is a privilege.  For us to be given the opportunity to stand up and recognise dedication, achievement, innovation and hard work by supporting these awards is something we are immensely proud of and consider an honour.”
