In-house Networking
Being part of a Basepoint Centre is more than just having office space, it gives you access to other businesses which can help yours grow.
On Tuesday 14th May we hosted our first Business Network Breakfast (BNB) from 07.30- 09.00. This was an opportunity for businesses in the centre to connect in a structured networking environment. We started with a full (ish) English breakfast, with tea, coffee and juices and had an informal chat while we ate. We then went round the room and each person had 1 minute to talk about their business and what they do. I did slip up here though- I had got so focused on getting the event organised that I had forgotten to write down a pithy description of what Basepoint and IWG can offer. Of course I know what we do- but it is important to have a minutes decription well thought out and executed. Like a scout- be prepared!
Following the minute round- we broke off to refill our coffees and start arranging those all important 1-2-1's. Then back to the meeting where Paul Dyer of Quick by Design (QBD) gave a 10 minute presentation of what his company does. It was a great talk and really opened my eyes as to how much they could offer from building websites to SEO, to advertising and social media. It was great to learn more about his company as now I feel far more confident in recommending him to others- knowing that they will get a fantastic product and excellent service (it also helps that I have known Paul for the last few months!).
After the talk there was time for discussion and an action round, where we fed back on the morning and what we planned to do next.
This was a great networking event which seemed to be enjoyed by all, lots of energy in the room and good feedback. We are starting in-house and getting a solid, core group of people to ensure that this has longevity and will be of benefit to many businesses for years to come. I am really looking forward to next month!
