Weymouth is in UK's top 10 places for a 'staycation'
Weymouth has received another glowing accolade to recognise it as a top tourist destination.
The town makes it into the top 10 in a poll of the best places for a UK trip away.
The list was created by holidaycottages.co.uk – which details a total of three Dorset areas among the nation's best.
According to the research, visitors love the beautiful beach and Georgian architecture in Weymouth as well as the historic Nothe Fort.
And 22% of Brits surveyed said they've visited Weymouth in the past five years.
Holidaycottages.co.uk places Weymouth as the eighth-best destination in the UK, with the Jurassic Coast at number nine.
Jane Biscombe, town clerk at Weymouth Town Council, said: “We are very proud to once again be celebrating national recognition for Weymouth.
"This award also goes to show that we’re not just one of the best seaside destinations, we’re one of the best destinations full stop. This is testament to the hard work of everyone in the town.”
Also celebrating the win is local firm Dream Cottages.

Weymouth is sharing the glory with Bournemouth - the town is ahead of us at number four.
According to research by holidaycottages.co.uk, 54% of Brits are planning a 'staycation' during 2019.
They say 22% are now more likely to holiday in the UK than abroad, due to growing Brexit concerns.
The study analyses survey data from 2,000 UK holidaymakers - including footfall figures and 'social data'.
Holidaycottages.co.uk predicts the nation's tourist industry will be worth over £257 billion by 2025.
The news follows an announcement on June 3
that Weymouth had been ranked among the top five best seaside towns for families by dayoutwiththekids.co.uk.
