Cupcake Day Coffee Morning

Dartford

On Friday 14th June Basepoint Dartford participated in Cupcake Day to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

The Alzheimer's Society launched 'Cupcake Day' as "in the average time it takes to bake a batch of cakes, six people in the UK will develop dementia. It is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales, overtaking both cancer and heart disease."

Licensees including Oasis Coffee & Sandwich Bar, The Creation Lab and Apex Law donated homemade cakes, which were then sold off with an accompanying hot drink to their neighbours and visitors throughout the day.

The event was a huge success and this was partially due to the inventive nature of the cakes donated. We had cakes and brownies made to look like mini burgers (complete with fondant cheese and salad!), jaffa cake cupcakes with the added surprise of a marmalade filling and decadent chocolate cupcakes that would satisfy even the sweetest tooth.

In total £101.23 was raised for the Alzheimer's Society, which is a fantastic result for an excellent charity. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
