Customer in the Spotlight
Week 3 in our series of posts about our lovely customers here at basepoint Gosport. This time I am with Lyn from Tammy's Dog Training. Make sure you check out the videos on YouTube, they are great!
Welcome Lyn, Thanks for taking the time to talk to us about your business. So let’s start by you telling us a bit about what Tammy’s Dog Training offers.
So, firstly we aim to educate dog owner and people that are thinking of becoming dog owners, about training dogs, and that it’s not just about the training but about setting boundaries. We teach that socialization is important when it comes to dogs and we offer a range of services to help with this.
We offer free socialisation classed for puppies between 8 and 11 weeks old. It is a misconception amongst dog owners that puppies cannot go out the house until they have had their second injection. They can, so long as the place they are taken is appropriately cleaned and they are carried from the car to the venue. Our venue works with the local vets and we use the same sterilising products to keep our venue clean as they do. This ensures that the training room is not only sanitary but safe for your pups.
After every training session you get emailed a link for instructional videos for use at home when training your dog. We have a you tube channel which you can find by searching 'Tammy's Dog Training' , there is a range of videos available to stream.
We offer talks to prospective dog owners that they can attend before getting a dog to find out what to expect and get some advice. We charge £10 per family for this service.
We offer a photograph service, with professional lighting and backdrops. We offer this free so long as the client purchases at least one photo or greeting card.
We also have a range of enrichment products available for purchase, such as balls and snuffle mats (which help the dog to eat slower) leads and collars.
Wow, so a real range of offers available and the online content to back it up.
So what’s unique about Tammy’s Dog Training that other trainers may not offer?
Tammy’s Dog Training works under the Code of Conduct of the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) this means we must work to a strict set of rules to ensure what we offer is up to standard. This is not a requirement, so some trainers do not have this. It gives the customers peace of mind that the service they are getting is the best. We are monitored and have regular audits, it’s kind of like the OFSTED of the dog training world if you like.
That’s a great selling point, gives peace of mind to the customers that their dog is being well looked after.
What’s in the future for Tammy’s Dog Training?
We just plan to continue educating dog owners with an ultimate aim being to keep as many dogs out of rescue centres as possible.

Lastly, please tell us what you think of working here at Basepoint Gosport.
I like the location, great facilities with kitchen areas and parking. Friendly people and easy to find. Whilst I think the price is a little high alongside all the license fees for APDT and other outgoings, the positives outweigh this. Any issues are dealt with quickly by the friendly management team on site.
