Para Bellum Weymouth 2020 will see fitness and teamwork put to the test
Fitness and teamwork will be put to the test in a major new event set to take place on Weymouth Beach next year. Para Bellum Weymouth, which will see 100 teams of two men and two women compete in eight gruelling challenges, is expected to be 'one of the biggest fitness competitions on the south coast' according to organisers Just Racing (UK).
The eight events are designed not only to test individual fitness, but the team's ability to work together and overcome challenges to determine who is the fittest.
Organisers say the event is "more than just a test of fitness," but is also about "team spirit, supporters, friends and family."
Just Racing (UK), which already runs local events such as the Weymouth Half Marathon and Swim The Bay, has partnered with Weldmar Hospicecare for the new Para Bellum event, where teams will have the option of competing for free whilst raising funds for the charity.
Alan Rose, director of Just Racing (UK) said: "We are really excited to be organising what can only be described as an event that is a true test of fitness and something that is suitable for a variety of teams from gyms, clubs and organisations across the UK. We have the perfect arena with Weymouth beach and the Jurassic Coast and can’t wait to share it with the teams, supporters, families and Weymouth town."
The event is scheduled to take place over the weekend of June 13 and 14 in 2020.
Alaine Harman, Weldmar’s running and challenges fundraiser said: "We are excited to be continuing our partnership with Just Racing (UK) and looking forward to this brand new event to the beautiful seaside town. We will be there throughout the weekend supporting all participants as well as encouraging fundraising for Weldmar Hospicecare so we can continue our services across Dorset.”
Early bird tickets will be available from Friday (30) with a maximum of 100 teams.
Head judge and Level 2 CrossFit trainer, Katie Muncie said: "We want to make sure we challenge all of the teams and their functional fitness, so programming the events correctly is key. We are looking forward to designing, testing and developing the events over the next 10 months to ensure we have an amazing set of 8 events to truly test the 100 teams."
