Raising Money for Southampton Hospital Charity - Cancer Care Unit
Sharyn Barney has raised an amazing £1,395.41 for the Cancer Care department, on Thursday 24th October, she met with Dr Nick Beck and Dr Tim Iveson who are just two of the consultants that have cared for Sharyn.
Sharyn has been a cleaner at Basepoint Romsey for nearly 10 years. Sharyn raised money for the specialist cancer care unit at Southampton, who have and still are treating her. Sharyn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, then last year (2018) was diagnosed with appendix, bowel and secondary stage 4 liver cancer (5 tumours).
Sharyn said "The consultants, surgeons, doctors and nurse have been truly amazing in the care they have given me over the last 14 months and this is my way of thanking them for the incredible work they have done”.
The money that Sharyn has raised will be going towards equipment and research for the staff at the hospital.
She is an outstanding and inspirational person. She is so committed at what she does at work and also goes out of her way to help anyone.
