Southampton: City of Opportunity

Romsey

Southampton is the most accessible city on the South Coast of the UK, with rail and road links to London and global maritime connections. The city ranks as the 3rd highest city for good growth in the UK, offering an exciting range of development and investment opportunities. Southampton is the UK’s Coastal Powerhouse.

The Port of Southampton is the UK’s leading export port, handling £71 billion of goods every year and is the number one cruise port in Northern Europe welcoming two million passengers. 85% of the UK cruise market is based in Southampton. The port is also home to DP World’s container terminal the UK’s second largest and most productive.

The UK has a long tradition as an ocean science pioneer with world leading capabilities, and the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton is one of the world's top oceanographic institutions.

The city has a student population of 46K and the University of Southampton is a founder member of the Russell Group of research intensive universities.

Southampton has a rich Cultural Quarter of art, film, music and performance, and is bidding to become the UK City of Culture for 2025.

The Future

Mayflower Quarter, is one of the largest city centre regeneration areas in the UK. An 84 hectare site extending to the waterfront, set to provide world class facilities for businesses alongside city centre homes and leisure opportunities. Areas of premium public realm will be key to the mixed use redevelopment, reconnecting an area of prime waterfront with the city centre.

Incorporated in to the Mayflower Quarter is One Station Square and Nelsons Gate. Bringing new use and purpose, plus modern state of the art facilities to the area of Southampton’s railway station.

This is a major opportunity for investors, developers and ultimately occupiers to become part of the success story that’s unfolding here. The Mayflower Quarter will leave a lasting legacy for Southampton which will benefit all who live in, work in, or visit this great maritime city.
