Basepoint cycle to victory and raise over £10,500 for Sports Relief

Basepoint Business Centres is proud to announce that it has raised approximately £5,300 for Sports Relief, with match-funding from The ACT Foundation bringing the total amount to £10,600. All of its 30 centres were set the challenge to statically cycle on spinner bikes from one centre to the next until they completed the full circle of its locations across the south of the UK, Midlands, East Anglia and Wales.

The journey commenced at Basepoint Romsey on Monday 17th March, and ended at Basepoint Luton on Friday 21st March, concluding with an incredible distance of 2,236 miles cycled, of which Basepoint Luton achieved an impressive 348 miles.

The centres were each asked to raise £1 for every mile cycled, but many centres exceeded this with Basepoint Luton raising an impressive £1,250 alone. Each centre also sourced its own bikes for free or minimal cost from local businesses such as David Lloyd, a health and fitness club, as well as from community gyms and licensees.

Brian Andrews, Managing Director at Basepoint, comments: “We’re incredibly proud to make this donation to Sports Relief, and hope the money raised will support vulnerable people in need. We’re also very humbled by the way all of our licensees and centre management teams have pulled together in the name of such a great cause.”
