Basepoint hosts Young Start Up Talent Semi-Final
12 of the youngest and brightest entrepreneurs in the Gatwick Diamond battled for a place in the final during the semi-final of Young Start Up Talent held at Basepoint Business Centre Crawley. The entries are competing for a prize worth over £50,000 including business services and support to launch the winning idea, donated by the judges and sponsors of the competition.The evening provided the semi-finalists with an incredible opportunity to discuss their business ideas with the expert judges and sponsors, all leading business figures in the Gatwick Diamond. Five entrants were chosen to go through to the Dragons’ Den-style final being held at Thales in Manor Royal in February. The successful ideas included costumes and accessories for conventions and cosplayers, a music record label, an online e-book library, personalised sports day shirts and a student tutoring business. Young Start-up Talent, a yearly event, was founded last year by the respective managing directors of Creative Pod and Media Word Waves, Matt Turner and Lorraine Nugent. Finalists: Timothy Armoo, Sam Brown, Toby Gillett, Steven Magezi, Amy Potts. Semi-finalists: Tom Appleton, William Chan, Peace Chen, Jed Kafetz, Jessica Mok, Yetunde Murphy, Jake Saunders. The winner will be announced on 29th March at a prestigious event at the Effingham Hotel.
