It was a sweet day for all involved when Basepoint Business Centre in Southampton presented local charity partner, Honeypot, with a cheque for £1312.00 to match fund money raised from one of its fund raising dinners held at Kam’s Palace, Southampton.
Lyn Chapman the assistant manager at Swindon presented Jackie Wray the manager of Basepoint’s Swindon chosen charity - The MS Therapy Centre, with a cheque for £5000.00. The MS Therapy Centre is raising funds to support their move to larger premises from which they will be able to offer a wider range of treatments and therapies to help support people with this often debilitating illness. They are due to relocate in January 2010 and are still actively raising funds to support this. Fund raising activities have included a sponsored walk along the Ridgeway, collections at Sainsbury's, a coffee morning and cake sale.
The Mayor of Swindon councillor David Wren and South Swindon MP Anne Snelgrove officially opened the new offices used by Learning for Life at Basepoint Business Centre Swindon on 20th November 2009. The organisation is possibly the only one in the country which provides training, education and personal development opportunities for adults with a range of disabilities, whether it is physical or social anxiety, depression, self harm or the results of abuse. Each person's needs are identified and then addressed in an holistic and friendly atmosphere. The charity can then create an individual programme to suit them, giving them the skills to develop and move on. Anne Snelgrove said " Learning for Life is a revelation both in its location at Basepoint, and the passion tutors and learners have about progressing and achieving the best they possible can."
A bevy of beauties graced the catwalk for Basepoint’s charity fashion show lunch recently held at The Channel Suite, Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone, raising a total of £2,000 for the Centre’s charity, Martha Trust.
