M5 junction at Tewkesbury a step closer to major upgrade after £1.5million funding boost

Tewkesbury

A major scheme designed to reduce congestion around the M5 junction at Tewkesbury and cut traffic flow through Ashchurch has taken a step forward. The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) today announced the award of £1.5 million to the county council to support its proposed M5 Junction 9 and A46 (Ashchurch) Transport Scheme. A significant investment is needed for the development of the M5 Junction 9 and A46 (Ashchurch) Transport Scheme Outline Business Case (OBC) of around £14million. In total, £8 million was approved last year by the county council’s cabinet. The £1.5 million announced by the government today will form part of the remaining £6 million needed for this work.
