We will be welcoming a new face to the centre this week.
"Velma Simon is an experienced fashion designer and dressmaker of bridal and evening wear. Her work includes alteration work, remodeling, hand beading, embroidery, making veils and fascinators.
Velma specialises in designing and creating bridal and evening wear as well as altering and remodelling ladies clothing. She works with delicate fabrics such as silk, satins, and lace as well as adding intricate hand beading, diamante and other embellishments to her beautiful designs.
She has worked with a variety of different styles from the traditional to slinky modern dresses to vintage wears. Heavily beaded dresses to corsetted gowns. Alterations vary from the simple to very complex changes and in some cases it could be a matter of remodelling a gown to create the desired effect, such as incorporating elements of a heirloom, revamping a pre-loved garment that’s seen better days or using the fabric from a wedding dress to create a christening gown or restyling into a glamour dress. All is possible!
Her experience has spanned over 30 years and within that time she has worked with high-end couturier, individual clients and stage performers from all walks of life."
