BorgWarner Technologies offers engineering apprenticeship opportunities

Tewkesbury

One of Gloucestershire's biggest employers is looking for enthusiastic applicants to join its team. BorgWarner Technologies, formerly known as Delphi Technologies, has 15 Level 3 Advanced engineering apprenticeship roles available in 2023 and applications are now open. It's a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn and begin a future in engineering with a successful and growing multinational company. Talent Development Manager Gary Miller explained: "Our apprenticeship programme has always been very highly valued by the business here at BorgWarner. "The company knows it's a really great way to grow engineers of the future so we're obviously delighted to have 15 vacancies for this year."

Investing in the future
It's no surprise that the firm, which boasts a factory near Stroud, keeps an eye on the future.

Specialising in state-of-the-art diesel fuel injection technology for commercial vehicle engines of up to 16 litres at its Stonehouse site, BorgWarner is also a world leader in tech for carbon-free propulsion vehicles too.

Gary said: "We are still world leaders in the design and manufacture of fuel injection systems for heavy-duty engines for both on and off-highway commercial vehicles.

"Automotive technology moves very quickly, and the business is already developing ideas for the next generation of its applications.

"It’s all about making the future real today, so there has never been a better or more exciting time to come and work here."

Start your journey
An apprenticeship with BorgWarner is just the first stage of the journey and the start of an exciting and rewarding career in engineering.

Applicants need good academic results at GCSE or A-level, particularly in maths and physics, as well as a drive for pursuing change and challenging the status quo.

Gary explained: "At the moment we have 15 vacancies - eight craft and seven maintenance positions.

"Year One of your training will be full-time at Gloucestershire Engineering Training, where you'll concentrate on acquiring the basic practical mechanical engineering skills and achievement of NVQ Diploma at Level 2.

"You will also undertake Year One of your Technical Certificate programme, and a Functional Skills programme, where applicable.

"Years Two to Four will be spent working in the company at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Stonehouse, alongside our highly skilled workforce.

"You will begin developing your product and process knowledge while focusing on the completion of Year Two of the Technical Certificate which will be delivered on a day-release basis at GET and will also begin a Level 3 NVQ Diploma programme.

"The maintenance positions will also include completion of an HNC in Years Three and Four.”
