Sugarloaf RDA Fun Day in Tilbury
Basepoint Tilbury have for the past 2 years supported Sugarloaf Riding for the Disabled by organising and running a number of fund-raising activities. Sugarloaf RDA aims to improve the lives of people with special needs and disabilities by providing opportunities for horse riding. Their riders find that riding enriches their lives, by encouraging confidence, co-ordination and physical exercise. They benefit physically, personally and socially and most of all, they have fun! It brings a whole new dimension into their lives.Sugarloaf held a Fun Day on Wednesday 17 August at their Tally Ho stables in Tilbury. In attendance were Jeanette Crockford, Centre Manager from Basepoint in Tilbury, and families and friends of the stables. As well as the horse riding , there were cake stalls and a tombola. The day raised £316 which will be used towards the costs of Disabled riders entering national competitions. The riders completed an obstacle course and received a rosette for successful completion of the course. Representatives from the National RDA Board were also in attendance. The staff from Basepoint, Tilbury, went along to lend a hand and also to present a cheque for £500, made up of monies raised through “tuck shop” sales in the Centre and match-funding by the ACT Foundation, Basepoint’s parent company.
